Free Promotion
We use several Social Media platforms to promote businesses in the city centre, whether it be a special offer, to highlight charitable work or simply to remind the public about your services – we can help with it all. Contact Tina to discuss the message you want to promote, and she’ll do the rest!
All business members are promoted on the Our Businesses Page and Food & Drink Guide.
Event Days
We carry out several events throughout the year. Free market stalls are available for any of our business members. These can be used to sell, promote or fundraise. The increased footfall within the city centre also provides a platform for businesses to capitalise upon.
Business Workshops and Networking
We understand how important it is to network with other businesses and keep on top of changes in legislation or in the market place. To help, we organise free workshops, if you are interested in a specific subject please get in touch to discuss.
Negotiation with the Moray Council
While we do not work for the Local Authority we do have strong links with many of the departments. If you need our support to access the right team, we will be happy to help.
Advertising Properties
If you own a property in the city centre we will be happy to promote it on our web site, simply send us the details or link to the agent you are using. We can also hold keys securely in our office and organise viewings at a time that is convenient to a prospective tenant.
Elgin BID Grant Scheme
The Elgin BID Grant Scheme has been introduced to provide our business members with access to a flexible grant fund that can be used to:
Benefit their business trading
Increase Footfall to the City Centre
Demonstrate Creativity and Innovation
Promote the use of a Vacant Commercial Space
Improve vibrancy to the City Centre
Elgin BID will also be happy to accept applications from collaborations between our business members, whether that be by geographical location, business sector or common interest, adding a new dimension to the grant package.

Small Business Bonus Scheme
The Small Business Bonus Scheme (Scotland) provides business rate relief for eligible small businesses located in Scotland. The scheme applies to businesses in Scotland with properties with a combined rateable value of £35,000 or less. The scheme is administered by Scotland’s local councils on behalf of the Scottish Government.
The rate relief 2017/18 available is structured as follows:
Effective from 1/4/17
| Rateable Value of Property | Rate Relief |
| Up to £15,000 | 100% (ie no rates are payable) |
| £15,001 to £18,000 | 25% |
| £18,001 to £35,000 | 25% on each individual property with a rateable value of less than £18,000 |
